John Mayer - Battle Studies Tour 2010

John Mayer @ Staples Center Los Angeles March 25,2010.

Here is the setlist.

Pretty good set
1.Heartbreak warfare was good
2 & 3.I dont care much for
I must say that I became a fan a few years after Continuum was released. I was talking to the guy (Rob) who sits next to me at work and John Mayer came up at that point I had not heard any of his music that weekend I was channel surfing and found John Mayer on Austin City Limits. That was all I had to see and I started to look for his music on the internet and videos on YouTube. I found "John Mayer - Continuum Preview - Star 98.7 - 08-23-2006" It was 1 file with John talking at the begining and end of each song this was a great introduction to his music and I listened to it begining to end around 30 times over the next 2 weeks. I dont like any of his albums prior to continuum. Back to the set.
4 Vultures great song nice arrangement he tends to change the arrangement of his songs every once in awhile thats why I look for alot of his live shows online
5.Perfectly Lonely was really good great guitar lead
6. Slow Dancing in a burning room has a great into where David Ryan Harris plays his electric guitar (clean) and sings in this really great falceto voice and now I am interested in his music found a couiple videos of him performing.
This pic is form the show during Slow Dancing in a burning room

7.Assassin - was good but kind threw the mood off a little since this song to me is least like the rest great guitar lead
8.Diddnt care for these songs.

9.Aint No Sunshine - WAS AMAZING I was so surprised by him playing this song I didnt know he had been covering it. He said something like let me groove so I thought he was just gonna play a portion but they played the entire song and the guitar work was AMAZING. I found a live version on YOUTUBE from NY still looking for a good quality version from Los Angeles but have been listing to the one from NY ove rand over.
10.Waiting on the world to change starts with a drum solo from Steve Jordan. I cant even say how much this guy fucking grooves and rocks on the drums. I have compared this drum solo with other ones on this tour and I believe LA was the best so far, it leads into the song and it was great.
wATCH THIS SICK DRUM SOLO + GUITAR JAM + WAITING ON THE WORL TO CHANGE

11.Belief - Is a great a song have heard it at least 100 times and this live version was a highlight Robbie McIntosh slide guitar is so sweet and John's lead is so funky.
12.Half of My Heart/ Dreams was a nice mix.
13.Journey cover was fine
14. Why Georgia - Dont care for this to much
Encore:
15. Who Says - Good.
16. Gravity - Great song and probably has the lead with the most feeling of all his songs reminds me of something Frusciante would play.
So overall even though he played some songs I didnt want to hear and didnt play some songs I would have loved to hear such as: I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You), Dreaming With A Broken Heart and Bold As Love it was one of my favorite concerts.

Here are some more pictures.

Rob Zombie - Halloween 2009

Rob Zombie @ The Hollywood Palladium Saturday OCT. 31,2009
I had tickets but I also have a 5 year old so trick or treating was more important.
I sold my tickets to a friend who so kindly text me a pic @ 1047 pm.
It was really hard to make the decision to sell my tickets because Rob Zombie always puts on a great show. John 5 is one of my favorite guitarist as well. Not to mention The Hollywood Palladium is a great General Admission place to see your favorite bands.
I hope to see Rob Zombie again soon.

Bob Vessells - Funny Farm Tattoo

I started getting tattoos in 1993 at Purple Panther my first tattoo was done by Kore Flatmo. As I continued to return to purple panther to get more tattoos I was getting tattooed by other artist there Mark Paramore, Tony and then I met Bob Vessells at Purple Panther Tattoo in 1994. I watched Bob tattoo many clients and was amazed at the detail he was producing in the skin. I wanted a statue of liberty crumbling so I brought the idea to him and this is what he did in December of 1994 and It is still amazing.

Bob did this heart tattoo for me about a week before he started the cross tattoo on my friends back. Bob's style is so distinctive, this was done just to fill in a small spot near my wrist. I was so impressed that I want to get another one similar but much bigger somewhere maybe on my hand, my leg or chest.

This is Bob Vessells Funny Farm Tattoo Shop at 4651 Melbourne Ave Hollywood, CA. it has been repainted since these pictures were taken many years ago. Bob is one of my favorite artist out there as a matter of fact in the last 14 years I have only been tattooed by Bob Vessells and Kore Flatmo. If you have the chance pay him a visit at his shop you wont be disappointed he is an interesting person. If you want to check him out on the web here you go. http://www.myspace.com/funnyfarmtattoos or http://www.bobvessellstattoo.com/

A friend of mine said to me that he wanted a cross on his entire back and where did I think he should get it done. The first thought in my head was Bob. He was doing his research on the web and magazines and I said well Bob's shop is close let take a ride so you can meet him and see what you think.

This would be the first time in 5 years that I would visit Bob. So we arrived and parked down the street as we walked towards the shop I could see Bob outside and was walking towards us but we were far away. He turned in the parking lot and continued to walk away we proceeded to the shop to see a post it stating be back at 3:30 signed Bob with a heart. We laughed it was only 3:05 so we waited around outside his shop. Just a little after 3:30 he was walking back to the shop and from where we were standing it was hard to tell but he had his hand in an odd position as we got closer it was because he had a fake monster hand (glove) on LOL. This pic is represenative not the exact style glove he was wearing.

We went in the shop he didn't recognize me at first but when we talked he remembered me sure enough. We bullshitted for a few minutes before talking business. This is a must when working with Bob he dosent want to talk shop all the time he wants to know what your about.

So my friend told him what he was looking for and he started to schetch it out, it took a couple of trys before Bobs vision was what my friend was looking for. Here's a couple of pics.

I hope to get more work from Bob in the near future some demon or devil girls. He is amazing. Here are a couple more examples of his work that you can find on his website or myspace page.

INCUBUS - The Greek Theater Los Angeles, Ca. 7-11-07

It was the day of the show and I wanted to go really bad, it was on my mind all day at work.

I was listening to LIGHT GRENEADES since its release in November 2006.

I had gone to see Incubus at the Los Angeles Fourm previously A Crow Left Of The Murder Tour.

I did'nt want to miss them in such and intimate venue.
I looked on Ebay and found some pit tickets for a very reasonable price somewhere around $200 for the pair so I bought them. I printed them out and we were on our way to see what was one of the greatest shows I have ever attended.

As you can see I was lucky enough to get the set-list at the end of the show.

If your an Incubus fan you can see this was an excellent set.

Amazing in fact.

This was going to be something completely different from all the other shows I had been to. Being that close and acutally watching the show. I've been to other shows in the pit and you you really cant watch with all the energy around you. But I knew there wouldnt be any moshing in fact no one ever even got close to me all night it was awesome.

We got there in plenty of time to secure a spot up against the railing on the side of the bass player Ben Kenney. I would have much rather been in front of the guitar player Mike Einzinger. The more I listen to Incubus I realize how talented he is. The way he use effects to create sounds from his guitar and plain old talent.

Brandon Boyd is in my opinion the best singer in rock music today. Pitch, tone and vocal style can not be matched by any other since Robert Plant.

All I know is that standing there so close made me feel like no other show except John Frusciante @ The Roxy but that is another story soon to come.

The sound was amazing the performance was great and the setlist near perfect since im not a big fan of there early stuff.

Bradley Nowell - Hit Me With Music

Brad, One of the great guitar players/singers of the 20th centery. We lost this one way to early. For those of you who have not heard Brad's solo and acoustic stuff I will post some of it here.
Buy some cds if you can.
I own all that I can find and never stop looking for unreleased and rare music from this artist.

Bradley Nowell is probably the only person besides Bob Marley that can perform a Marley Song and make you feel good about it.

He was really touched by music and it shows in his soulful playing smooth voice and guitar playing. Some might even want to hurt me after what Im about to say but I like Brad's acoustic version of "Zimbabwe" better than Bob's and thats only my preference(MP3 Play Count is 50 times). I'm not saying it's better. What is better? Better is subjective to the listener. Could Brad write a song that good? yes, but he didnt write that one.
Brad is the reason I got into Bob Marley. I was listening to alot of Sublime when i discovered that they covered Bob Marley songs and an even better discovery was Brad's acoustic versions of a few Marley songs. That peaked my interest. He must have listened to Marley quite alot because his covers are amazing.

I let my friend Greg (I would say he's the Marley expert) hear Brad from the Firecracker Lounge and he thought "most people in the place were not listening and just talking, only Brad cared and he was singing with a lot of sincerity, he felt the music".

Sublime covered the following Bob Marley songs.
One Cup Of Coffee/Judge Not, Trenchtown Rock, I Shot The Sheriff

Bradley played these songs. Almost as if he was paying respect to the original artist for the love of the music that influenced him.

I think thats why his acoustic covers (studio and live) of Bob Marley Songs were so amazing the passion and the love of music.

Wanting to play music and sing regardless of how it sounds. Sometimes Brad was drunk when he was performing and his playing/singing wasnt always on key but it was passionate.
Im writing about Brad because I feel the muisc that he is performing I have just listened to Zimbabwe & Marley Medley over and over for the last hour. So I will share these heart-felt recordings with anyone who might stumble upon them.
